Vulcan Materials Company Violates Terms of its Conditional Use Permit at the Azusa Rock Quarry
Vulcan Materials Company's ability to mine at the Azusa Rock Quarry is dependent upon their compliance with the conditional use permit. The conditional use permit specifies which areas can be mined and how those areas are to be reclaimed when mining operations are completed. Save Van Tassel has determined that Vulcan Materials Company has violated the terms of their conditional use permit by mining outside the specified boundaries. The map below shows the area in which mining is permitted.

A photo of the east side of the quarry from the west shows that Vulcan has already mined the area outside of the current boundary. Coincidentally, they have applied to extend the eastern boundary by another 250 feet to the east.
Even their own publications indicate a "'disturbance' outside the mine boundary".
